Mollino, Carlo (1905 - 1973)
The Turin-based Italian designer devoted his life to his numerous obsessions: ski, car races, decoration, photography and design. His mannerist almost baroque creations challenged Milanese rationalism. A fanciful person himself, he imagined surreal and simple furniture that would inhabit opulent interiors. An amateur erotic photographer, sensuality is clearly visible in his designs' shapes mingled with Art Nouveau organic lines. 'Everything is permissible as long as it is fantastic.'
